Masashi Yamamoto
Yamamoto builds his impressive resume with the continual screening of "Carnival in the Night" (83) at the Berlin and Cannes Film Festival, and as Jim Jasmusch's director for the New York division of independent films. With the debut of JAGATARA's first album, producing the majority of musical events, the promotion from a punk rocker to an actor, we recognize Yamamoto for his creativity. Yamamoto's "Robinson's Garden,"(87) took the Berlin Film Festival Zitty Award, the Local Film FestivalÕs Special Award and Rookie of the Year award for Japanese Movie Directors,. He appointed Director Jim Jarmusch's cinematographer Tom Dicillo for this movie. He collaborated with Hong Kong for "Tenamonya Connection"(90), and established the Private Photography Guild to name a few of Yamamoto's achievements. "Junk Food"(97) publicly screened in ten American cities, and "Limousine Drive" (01) screened abroad. Yamamoto's work crosses national borders; it is with this ambition and tremendous power that he continually defies the status quo in new ways.
